The DARPA Restoring Active Memory project begins at the University of Pennsylvania, with the intention to develop a personalized brain stimulation therapy.

2019

Nia acquires ASIC technology for brain sensing and stimulation.

2026

First clinical trial expected to start enrolling.

2000-2014

Foundational scientific work describing the brain signals underlying human memory function.

2018

First demonstration of personalized neurostimulation to improve human memory. Nia Therapeutics is founded.

2023

First demonstration of improved memory performance in patients with a history of TBI.

Founder & CEO

Dr. Mike Kahana is the founder of the Computational Memory Lab and Edmund J. and Louise W. Kahn Term Professor of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the co-founder of nia Therapeutics and co-inventor of Nia’s core technology for treating memory loss.
